Leg Waves: Lying, Standing, Aerial, and Base Variations
A complete breakdown of the leg wave across four positions: lying on your back, from standing, aerially, and at the base of the pole on one knee. We move through each variation slowly so you can feel how the wave travels, then layer in where the movement initiates, how it ripples through the body, and how breath carries it into something fluid. Start wherever your body is today and build from there.

Sensation Layer
The leg wave is one of the clearest places to feel initiation. Before you chase the shape, find where the movement actually begins, whether that's the hip, the knee, or the foot, and notice how it travels outward from that single point. The wave is not something you perform with the leg. It's something that moves through you. Let the breath set the pace. An exhale lengthens the line and gives the ripple somewhere to go. When the breath leads, fluidity stops being a goal and becomes a byproduct.

How to integrate it into your practice
Pick one of these variations and drop it into your next freeflow. As you move through it, bring your attention to how your body articulates the wave, the way it travels from one point and ripples outward. You're not performing the shape. You're noticing how the movement actually moves through you.
