Oozing & Dancing in the Stillness | A Fluid Body Flow Prompt

Flow prompts are how you break out of your own patterns. It's easy to get locked into a certain rhythm, moving the way you always move, and a prompt is a way back out. You take a quality and layer it on top of your movement, and suddenly you're experiencing your body in a way you wouldn't have found on your own. These prompts are meant to inspire you, challenge you, and wake you up. They're experiments, not rules.

In this lesson I give you two.

The first is oozing, and it's about wringing your movement out. So much of pole is push and pull, tension, holding a shape against the pole. But what makes fluid movement look fluid is finding what you still have access to inside all that tension. Even locked into a shape, something is always available to move, to wring, to ooze and drip. Oozing is about finding those parts and unmuting them, waking up the pieces of you that go still by default.

The second is dancing in the stillness, a different way in with the same goal. Instead of hitting a shape and rushing straight to the next one, you hold it, and you find out how much is actually available to you once you stop. In the video I hold a pole squat and show how much is still in play: my hips, my knees, my head, my shoulders, my hands, my fingers. There are so many ways to dance inside one basic shape. This one is perfect for beginners looking to find a unique flow with a limited range of motion, because it proves how much movement lives in a single held position.

Both prompts lead to the same place: more access, more expression, more of your own movement available to you.

How to integrate this into your practice

Pick one prompt and take it into a shape you already know well. Ooze through it, or hold it still and dance inside it. Notice what wakes up, what you had access to the whole time without realizing it. The point isn't to move more. It's to notice how much is already there.
